Well...we finally got the site rolling. As of right now, there's still a glitch w/ the calendar that's being worked out. We're also in the process of getting the mp3 player together and a pic page. Thanks to Parker Smith for all the hard work he put into creating this site. As of right now, there's a Bio page and show dates as well as some video clips on the media page. So, for now, it's the winter season and my gigs have slowed down a little bit. I've been writing and recording some songs w/ the Sprowl brothers formerly of Sfumato and it has been fun to get back in the creative flow. Also, I'm starting to get the plans together and set them in motion to record my own stuff. I'm gonna be recording everything in the Pop Machine w/ Adam White as my engineer. What better person to help me get my ideas across than one of my most influential teachers.
My recording will be purely for the sake of artistic expression. It will have everything on it that I think is beautiful about music. Some of the stuff that I have written and planned so far is: some Mississippi Delta style Blues, some funky little jams w/ a quartet, some jacked up jazz standards w/ some of my favorite musicians, some abstract music, a little bit of weird comedic crazy stuff, some punk/metal stuff (maybe), and hopefully a song w/ the most soulful singer in the land Christy Stogsdill. It will be recorded raw, not polished like most of the records that come out nowadays. I'm all about getting a real feel and letting what is natural come out...if that means mistakes, then so be it. But, I doubt that any mistakes will compromise the quality because I'm hiring the best players that I know. It will be alot of fun and maybe some good music that people can clean their houses to someday, or maybe tap their foot to? I also want to try to video tape the process...any volunteers? (I have the camera.) :) |
